Fresh Sugar Lychee Eau De Parfum ($44/CAN), is my anywhere, anytime scent of of the moment. It is captivating, yet extremely inoffensive – a combination you can not say no to. My first memory of this was a casual, just strictly browsing stroll in Sephora and I met this one, right here! Out of curiosity, I sprayed this one on my wrist, with no intention to ever purchase this ever, ever in my life. Boy, was I wrong! The entire trip in the mall I fell more and more in love with this and when I went home, all I could think of was this scent which faintly reminded me of lychee lemonade. That is exactly when I realized it was love!
It is basically a fruity (citrusy, mostly) scent with a slightly warmer, sweet base. What works for it is that there is a sweet balance between the two. It is crisp, at first, with the zesty notes of lemon and lime blossom, lychee, mango flower and grapefruit and warmly mellow later with with sweet notes of sandalwood, tonka bean and amber. It is the alluring combination of tangy and warmly sweet that works for this. It is neither coyly sweet not is it tangy beyond nasal indigestion. It is just that perky, effervescent scent that is easy to fall for and yet, wear everyday. The bottle is simple and unembellished; while not the most attractive feature of the product, it is still wonderful. The only issue I have with this fragrance is its poor longevity, it lasts 1-2 hours and then fades into a pretty, faint memory. I mean the scent is something I love, so yes, I see myself repurchasing it, but only as a rollerball, not a bottle. This way, I can easily touch-up whenever I feel like.
The bottom line? It is a yummy perfume; a must if you like fruity scents. I would recommend purchasing strictly in a rollerball because then, you’d be able to counter the poor longevity with frequent applications. If you are averse to reapplications, it is not worth a pick as it only lasts a couple of hours.
