So, I have stayed away from cool toned makeup for many
weeks months. No, it has not been deliberate, but the older I get, the less flattering cooler tones seem. My summer tan seems to be fading and I’m opening up to the cooler berries, taupes and rosier cheeks. It is liberating, truth be told because frankly, I was getting sick of my summer go to of contoured cheeks and bronzed out, kohl ridden eyes. And well, let’s face it – chilly winds & cool tones go rather well together!
A neutral base is where it’s at!
The base, well, I had purposely put on a “neutral” foundation. And Make Up For Ever Face & Body (#34) is as neutralizing it gets on me. It’s neither too golden, nor too pink – just a happy middle. Oh, yeah I decided to cover up my dark circles, too with Clarins’ Instant concealer in #3 – the colour just works right for me. For blush, I couldn’t resist my usual dose of warmth – NARS Luster it is! Though it is obviously a warm shade, it is not too interfering with the cool tones in my makeup.
A light, cool smokey eye!
Cool taupe-purple? I’ll take it! Clinique’s All About Shadow Duo in Uptown Downtown fit’s bill aptly. The darker shade in the duo is such a star! I first lined the upper lash line with Clinique Quickliner Intense in Intense Amethyst, smudged it with the darker shade of the duo and lightly washed over the sparkly pink. One coat of mascara (Marcelle Twist PushUP, in this instance) & the result – effortlessly cool!
Cool berry lips do the trick!
Nothing will complement the cooler (or in my case, COLD) weather better than cool toned berry lips. And with this, say hello to Annabelle TwistUP Lipstick in Divine – a stunner of an everyday shade! (Hint: comment here makes you eligible to win 24 Annabelle TwistUP lipsticks. Details here)
