Benefit Fine One One is a product about which I was a little torn. I just didn’t know whether to like it or not. Don’t get me wrong, I do like the sheer flush of coral and pink on my cheeks and the packaging is just darling, but it is not a perfect product by any means.
I think the major backdraw of this one is that it is not a universal product. It won’t work for every skin tone out there and definitely won’t work on the lips for over two thirds of us out there. It is something that is meant to be friends with only the pale ones out there, on my skin tone, which is medium dark (NC 40 in MAC/ 153 in Make Up For Ever HD & Barcelona in NARS), it works fine as a cheek stain, but does not stand a chance on my lips. The product is very sheer and it is described as so, so it should not be a surprise. It is indeed quick and easy and perfect for touch ups, but it may or may not work out for you. Had it had a tad more pigment, it would have scored much higher in my books because that would mean, a lot more of us could easily employ it for its services. Also, I do not find the highlighting shade to be much of use, it’s just there. As a blush, it blends really well and gives a nice, easy flush. It does not work as a lipstain on me, though.
Overall, I would say that if you are pale, you may enjoy this one a lot more than others out there. It is sheer, though, so be prepared for layering if you would like more punch. It does not stand much as a “must have” – especially since benefit is known for its other spectacular highlighters and stains. At $30 Cdn, it would be reasonable if you wanted something more solid. While I didn’t find it to be disappointing, it didn’t blow my mind like other Benefit products have in the past. The packaging, however, is fantastically done – the rose gold exterior makes it nothing short of a perfect purse accessory and I like how the product reminds me of this. I just wish that Benefit didn’t advertise as a lip stain, because for most, it is not one.
