Aren’t we spoiled for choices when it comes to BB creams these days? They are springing up like wild mushrooms and no, we are not complaining a single bit! Latest (sort of) to join the bandwagon is Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream ($9 & up). It is so nice to have drugstore products being so fabulous lately and this is, for the most part, no exception.

There is so much to appreciate Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream for; for one, it has a fabulous texture. It just blends right in, feels feather-light on the skin and comes in five different shades. The latter quality is really commendable for a drugstore BB cream because let’s face it, who likes to not be invited to the party? I picked up a medium for my NC 40 skin tone, it was fine for me until I decided to lounge by the pool on a sunny day. Now it is a little light for me, but being a bb cream, it adjusts itself to my darker skin-tone.

It does give the skin a nice, even look and I certainly do appreciate the SPF 30. One thing that is a miss, however, is the relatively poor longevity. On a sweaty summer day, this thing does not stand a chance, unfortunately. I get 2-3 hours without a primer/setting powder. This thing needs all the support it can get for this season. On a mild cloudy day, it fares decent. Also the coverage is more or less that of a tinted moisturizer. You’ll need concealer if that’s what you normally do with a tinted moisturizer.

Overall thoughts: Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream is a decent product from the drugstore. It has a fabulous texture and feels feather light. It’s coverage resembles that of a tinted moisturizer and wear time is rather average.

Overall rating: B+

It looks great on you, even if it’s not particularly long-wearing. I just bought this too but haven’t had a chance to try it yet. This will be my 2nd ever BB cream (the first being Estee Lauders. LOVED it!). I’m not sure I have high hopes–especially for my very oily skin. Still, I guess you really never know!
