Illamasqua Box Lipstick (£ 15.50) is one hot babe, in a timeless, classic way, of course! Very aptly described as a deep scarlet red, in a matte finish, this one is something you buy for keeps. It is one of the vampier reds I have, but it still has a playful, slight cherry undertone to it.
Now, it is a matte finish, so dryness must be its baggage, right? Well when I first applied it, it did drag along – the first stroke was definitely not the smoothest. Surprisingly, however, it wears very comfortable. It is not dry once its on, so full points on that. The wear time is average for a dark shade, but survives a meal and a drink. It then settles into a gorgeous crimson stain, and no, I am not complaining. Not even a bit. Since I have a small mouth, it did feather a whole lot on the corners of my mouth. But to be fair, that is the case with almost every dark shade. The packaging is a classic black case, which unfortunately holds finger prints. The lipstick has a warm, caramel like scent to it which disappears moments after applying.
The colour seems universally flattering, I can not imagine it not looking good on anyone, really. The pigmentation is superb, almost stupendous. I swatched it on my arm this morning and could not stop looking at how fabulous it looked against my skin. I mean, take a look for yourself, will you?
Overall thoughts: Illamasqua Box is a classic colour, in a fabulous matte formula. Get it if this is your kind of colour, enough said.
