Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hr Cream Gel Shadow (9.99 to 8.99, depending on where you get them from) are the best cream eye shadows from the drugstore. Long -wearing, crease resistant and full of vibrant pigment, they are worth every penny. Though, they don’t nearly last 24 hours, they do last an entire day with reasonable fading as the day goes on. They work fabulously as a base or as an eye shadow and blend well with other eye shadows – powder or other cream formulas. The texture applies in a thin layer and the coverage is buildable. Two of the three colors I tried were shimmery and sheer in nature (Audacious Asphalt and Bad to the Bronze), but build on coverage with no issues. This is one drug store product, which is highly comparable to similar high-end cream shadows like MAC Paint Pots, and MUFE Aqua creams. Though, I have to say MUFE Aqua creams set better and have a slightly moist feeling to them initially.
Tough as Taupe is a brown grey with a slight purple cast. Applies opaque and the texture is most similar to the matte finish of MAC paint pots. A great everyday color with many nuances.
Bad to the Bronze is a shimmery, cool bronze. This is my favorite shade out of the three, simply gorgeous and blends amazingly well with other shadows. It is the perfect shade for anytime, anywhere.
Audacious Asphalt is steel grey with shimmer. Perfect for a grey smokey eye. It blends excellently with other eye shadows.
Overall thoughts: This is an excellent range of drugstore cream eye shadows, which is comparable to high-end brands. Long wearing, easily blended and full of pigment, this one definitely has my vote, almost a must have!
