When Pantone released their opinions on this year’s hottest shades, Make Up For Ever, which has a fab range of vibrant hues in their permanent line, came up with a Pantone inspired Spring 2012 collection. I got sent a few products from the collection to feature, so of course, a review and FOTD is in order, non?

First up is Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Cream in 18 ($25 Cdn) which is the brand’s answer to the colour called Sweet lilac. I am in love with this product; I am having a bit of a love affair with cream eyeshadows right now and maybe that contributes to the reason. I love how wet, err, maybe moist is more the word it is feels on the lids and then seals itself into permanence (or maybe semi-permanence) on to your lids. Since it is a purple, and purple eyeshadows are a difficult bunch all together, it fades easier than it should and does not completely last the entire day. I really, really like this soft pastel colour, so I am willing to overlook its flaws. Overall rating: B/B+

Make Up For Ever Rouge Intense # 15 ($22 Cdn) is what your (and my) 90’s dreams are made of. I could go back in time and see Naomi Campbell rocking this shade in 1995! A frosty metallic bright, bold purple shade – enough said! Packed on with pigment, frost and pizzaz, you’d definitely need some confidence to rock this babe! It is definitely a long lasting shade, but I would see a cherry on top if it was a bit more moisturizing. This is corresponding to a shade called Bellflower. Overall rating: A-

Next up is the Blush/Eyeshadow in #58 ($22), which is BRIGHT hot pink and the answer to the shade called cabaret. This one is pigmented, all right. I used it both as an eyeshadow and blush and no complains in both cases, except maybe that it is too pigmented. As an eyeshadow too, it is too long lasting – lasting even after I slightly wiped it off with a baby wipe. Perfect contender for doing professional make up shoots and such, but unfortunately not so much for everyday. Overall rating: A

From Left to Right; MUFE Aqua Cream in 18, Rouge Intense Lipstick in 15 & Eyeshadow/Blush in 58

Ok, so the bravest thing I have EVER done on this blog – put up a daring FOTD. I am very muted with my looks usually – the boldest I’ll go towards is a little pop of colour or a bold smokey eye, but nothing like this. I guess I am starting to embrace the fun and carefree side of make-up and I hope this is only a beginning. Life is too short to be constrained and live by those boring rules, so here is my boldest FOTD till date.

I am wearing MUFE Aqua Cream in 18 as an all over lid colour, with MUFE Eyeshadow/blush in 58 in the crease. Two coats of Lancome Hypnose Mascara. A heavy hand of blush with # 58 again and MUFE Rouge Intense Lipstick in # 15. For foundation and concealer I used MUFE HD Foundation in 153 & theBalm Time Balm in Mid-Medium.

Funny fact: I was walking out to run some errands today after doing today’s FOTD. I had wiped the eye look slightly and the blush and lips completely. The lady who manages my building yelled across the hallway saying nice eyeshadow, I hope she didn’t mean it sarcastically, because let’s face it, it is bright!
