Announcement | I’m going on a ban…
Hi guys, I am going on a make-up ban. No, no the blog is not going to shut down anytime soon, its just that lately, I have become a bit of a hoarder. I just buy, put it away and don’t look again. I am running behind on reviews that I had previously planned of the things I had purchased, but they just don’t seem to be happening. Just to encourage myself to review things I have collected over these months, I am going on a no buy till April 30, 2012. What is excluded from this no-buy:
- Skin care, obviously.
- Mascara
- PR samples
- Gifts
It only means I cannot buy makeup besides mascara (which I am about to run out of any day, really). This ban is inspired from my dear friend Larie of Eye Heart It. If you have become a bit of a hoarder, I encourage you to join. Just a sneak peek of what is to come…
- 2 NARS blushes.
- 6 Vasanti Lipsticks
- 1 YSL Lipstick
- 1 Stila Blush
- Guerlain Meteorites
- Too Faced Shadow Insurance
- Benefit Sun Beam
- Benefit Cha Cha Tint
- MAC Lady Danger Lipstick
- A dozen MAC eyeshadows
- Benefit Stay Don’t Stray Primer
- Benefit High Beam
- Lancome Rouge in Love Lipstick…among 1000 other things.
I also plan to do more FOTD’s and OOTD’s – not now, but in spring when the weather is nicer. Also, if you didn’t notice, I don’t post as much as I used to. It is a conscious decision, I have other priorities in my life and the blog is only a hobby 
I hope you guys understand.

Hi Shivani,
I support the decision. Being a makeup artist I buy products recklessly, use them not even once at times and then they lie untouched for a long time till someday I plan to dig in and find it out in its brand new state.Since I dont do reviews and hauls as I may not like flaunting, most of the stuff is just lying with no heart of mine to do a giveaway.
Its a good decision and I am sure you lots of stuff to bring on yet and survive till April…Do share tips on self control and how to stop impulsive shopping. I would need them the most.

You should definitely do reviews or overview on products since you know so much. I wish you would do that because I love hearing overview of products by and favorites of make-up artists.
Actually I have more than enough to last me for a year, I am sure
Also when you are have too much products, it takes away from the creativity because you are too busy hoarding – just my thoughts.

I have been on a personal makeup ban since the beginning of the year. I would run out and buy a host of products, only to come home and plan my next shopping trip. I did not appreciate what I have. I want to take my time and savor each item. My ban is for the entire year, renewable each month. Have been successful in Jan, ready to carry on with my resolution in Feb. This kind of course correction is important. Good luck!

I have been slowing down my buying but I don’t think I have the willpower to go on a ban. I’ll definitely be focusing on the makeup I have more than anything else now. I wish you the best of luck!

Good luck, Shivani! Welcome to the club, haha. That’s quite a list – can’t wait to see your reviews of the YSL and Lancome lipsticks! I totally feel you on the backlog…it gets ridiculous. I’ve only been on the ban for a week, but already I feel like I’m rediscovering things! It’s quite nice, actually.
And yes, the blog is a hobby. I agree entirely. No need to force yourself to post when you’re not really feeling it. We all understand, I think.

I’ve been bad lately and bought a few new things (yet to arrive), but I do try my hardest to use everything I have. I think my wallet would really thank me if I decided not to buy any new goodies. You’re so brave!

I’ve not bought any makeup for a month now actually as I did get a few nice items from my travels last year and I’ve been discovering them. I’ll be sticking to this low-buy rather than a complete no-buy for the next few months. I’m also trying to finish all my skincare/finishing products before buying more as it’s so rewarding to know that the money I spent on them was put to good use.

same here shivu …. i horded on makeup this month like hell from UD to Benefit …. but now am sitting quite for some time .. at least in feb month i dont want to buy anything and save for my marrg. annv.
and yeahhhh did purchased some home stuff and am happy that am not indulging much into makeup
