After more than one and a half years of beauty blogging, I rarely ever come across something that just blows me away. Meet Sephora by OPI Traffic-Stopper Copper Top Coat ($9.50 US/$12 Cdn). When I first saw this, I thought glittery chunks of copper in clear polish, what can be so special? Wrong, was I ever W.R.O.N.G! It is actually the most beautiful top coat that spices up any plain old nail-polish. It is like the extra cheese on your margarita pizza, makes an already good thing out of this world. (Speaking of pizza, I need me some pronto!).
Anyhow, I’m totally sold on this top coat. Why? Because not only does it elongate the wear of nail polish, but also takes it one step ahead. I have had friends and strangers alike ask me what I’m wearing on my nails. No my nail polish on its own wasn’t that interesting, it is the top coat. I’m personally not amazed by the whole crackle trend, so this is the way I get to be “different” with my manicure. Added bonus, is that it works with both bright and neutral polishes, it is very universal in that sense.
It totally made Essie Turquoise & Caicos a little bit better, didn’t it? It looked like my nails were representing the grandiose of Turkish architecture with the added copper bits.
And it works just as well with those neutrals too, here I have Spa Ritual Twig, which is a sandstone color. It just adds life to a demure and understated color and makes it party ready in no time.
Of course it is not something you will wear to work, so just keep that in mind. But it works just as nice or dare I say even better for pedicures. Overall, I am more than pleased to have this in my stash and repurchase this without any inhibitions. I stare at my nails for hours and hours and please don’t tell me it is my fault. However, one thing I don’t like about this is that like all glitter based polishes, it is hard to take off. Beauty is pain, I guess.
